Sunset at Lake Pichola, Udaipur

Posted on February 1, 2022

Udaipur is called The City of Lakes. Lake Pichola is an artificial lake built in the year of 1362 AD and one of the popular sightseeing places to visit in Udaipur.

Flanked by islands, palaces, temples, mansions, ghats and restaurants, Lake Pichola is the most popular attraction in Udaipur.

Colorful!

The enchanting views of sunrise and sunset from the lake is something that should not be missed by anyone visiting the lake.

A trip to Lake Pichola is incomplete without a boat ride in the serene lake, especially during sunset.

The placid waters of the lake shimmering in golden red hues

The view of sunset from the boat is truly magical. The setting sun paints the skies in golden red before disappearing in the horizon.

The lake side is lined with the havelis of the nobles, most prominent being the Bagore ki Haveli. The Gangaur Ghat with the triple-arched Tripolia stands as a magnificent piece of architecture at the end of Bagore ki Haveli.

The boat takes us around the tiny islands, the most attractive sights on the boat ride are the island palaces. These palaces appear as though they are floating in the lake!

The view of sunset from the boat is truly magical

Some where along the mid way, turn back towards the eastern shore of the lake to witness the most amazing sight you’ve ever seen.

The golden rays from the setting sun casts a magic spell on The City Palace

The golden rays from the setting sun brightens up the shore like never before. The granite walls of the City Palace will glow in a vibrant golden-red color.

The boat then goes beyond the island-palaces and takes us across to the shore on the western side. There are few other palace-converted-heritage-hotels on this side.

The other island palace of Jag Niwas, now the Taj Lake Palace Hotel, is built in 18th century by Rana Jagat Singh II.

On its way back, the boat takes us past the 17th century Jagmandir Island Palace. This is one of the oldest and most impressive palace. The island also houses a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.
