Another drive in the rain, another fun filled day 😀
This drive-meet was organised by the Punto Owners Club – Bangalore, a collective of owners of all cars FIAT. We met at Hoskote toll plaza and then all of us drove in a convoy to Mulbagal to savour the most popular breakfast “Mulbagal dose”.
When the drive plan was announced, many showed interest in joining for the meet. However, few backed out for personal reasons and the incessant rain the previous night and on the day of the drive deterred few to join. But still 11 of us (crazy, you say) made it to the meet point bearing the rain early in the morning.
Mulbagal or Mulabagilu (ಮುಳಬಾಗಿಲು) comes from the word “mudalabagilu”, which means the “eastern door” in the native Kannada language. This place receives the first rays of sun in Karnataka! Mulbagal is about 100 km from Bangalore and 30 km from Kolar on the Bangalore-Chennai National Highway (Old Madras Road).
Even though we all started in a convoy, couple of traffic signals made sure that we split. Few cars that got left behind continued to be in formation.
We stopped by the Narasapur lake on the highway for a photo shoot. The location was apt: the lake on one side, green fields on the other, the highway cutting thru, and the rocky mountains proving a perfect background.
Few cars that went ahead were waiting for us at the next toll plaza and from here we all we together and reached Mulbagal Dosa Point, our venue for breakfast.
It rained through out our drive, except between the time we left Hoskote toll and reached Mulbagal.
We thought of a photo shoot of all the beautiful cars in the rocky environs. We all headed to Avani village, famous for Ramalingeshwara and Sita temples. We couldn’t reach the foot hill due to heavy rains and broken roads. We then planned for a shoot in the green covers of a reserve forest near by.
A funny incident. While we were busy parking in formation by the side of the road, locals from the near by villages gathered around us, curious to know whats happening. One of them even asked “illi shooting naditha idya?” (“are you filming here?”) 😀
After the photoshoot, we headed back to join the Bangalore highway. Had lunch at Somanna Dhaba. Dispersed after lunch, going thru the bad city traffic.
