In front of the Hazara Rama temple is a bazaar street which is known Kramuka-Parnapana Veedhi (Kramuka means betel nut and Parnapana means betel leaf or paan in Sanskrit). Owing to this name, the street is known as Paan-Supari Bazaar. Its said that during the time of the Vijayanagara empire, there were four prominent market places among which paan supari bazaar was one of them. Today the marketplace is a remnant of its glorious past.
It is believed that the bazaar once had a huge impressive gateway which doesn’t exist today. Only traces of the gateway is said to be found near the marketplace. Towards the far end of the marketplace, you can find deepa sthamba (lamp post) and pushkarani next to it. On the left side of this street, there is temple dedicated to Goddess Durga locally known as Pattanada Yellamma. This temple is in ruins. The Goddess was worshipped during Mahanavami festival by the Vijayanagara rulers.
