Tula bhara or Kings Balance is located near the Vijaya Vittala temple. The Kings Balance in Hampi is a massive frame beautifully carved in stone. It is one of the few structures still intact among the ruins of Hampi. The 5 meters tall structure stands like an archway which is carved beautifully with stone. There are three hoops on the underside of the stone beam. These hoops were used to hang the balance.
On special occasions, the king Krishnadevaraya used to weigh himself self (tula bhara) on one side and with precious stones, gems, and gold on the other side, and then distribute it in charity and to temples. At times the structure was also used to weigh grains, pulses, and other commodities. The balance used for tula bhara is missing.
